New windows 7 install running very slow

In reply to Marilyn O's post on December 20, My new Windows7 machine exhibits the same behavior. The OS is quite fast in most other places but on installs and uninstalls, for ANY product 3rd party or Windows, exe or msi it is very slow. The whole thing hangs for about 30 seconds to several minutes before doing anything.

Since I bought this computer yesterday it would be surprising that I would already need a defrag or a disk cleanup. In reply to BloodyGonzo's post on April 2, In reply to MikeDaBeast's post on September 9, This question is still not resolved. I have Windows 7 Professional 64 bit with service pack 1. I tried to mend this problem and created the missing key. I have the same problem!! My installer is stuck on the same registry key as mentioned above. Isn't there any solution?????

In reply to SimasPeciura's post on June 12, Hope this helps for somebody! According to NOD32 "The web page is on the list of websites with potentially dangerous content.

In reply to AndreasFalco's post on June 14, I've found the reason the install is so slow! Well, sort of. The immediate cause of the problem in my case is a problem with the Volume Shadow Copy Service VSS which for some unfathomable reason stopped working.

This service is needed for System Restore and most installer starts with a restore point creation. The install waits for this restore point creation for a long time and only continues with the install after the restore point creation fails. Unfortunately the installer does not give an error message about this failure. You may also check whether this happens in your case too by trying to create a restore point manually. I switched off system restore for all of my drives and install is very fast again.

But I lost the possibility to restore an earlier state if anything goes wrong. Richard Tubb You're welcome, Michael. Richard Tubb My pleasure! I'm glad it was useful. Richard Tubb Thank you, Nasho!
