If you have the story mode enabled, sims will get fat or thin, or a bunch of other things, while you're not playing them. Now, we personally would suggest that you go in for the 8GB of RAM as a minimum requirement to make this work. All you need to do is be able to take a look at how best to do things by carefully analysing and taking a look at all of the different options out there.
